Hey,

I finally got the story written up for the Vernon DH 2005 race in the Okanagan valley in July.

Check out my article at:

Also, we produced a short 16MB movie of the event:

Thanks to everyone that came out and supported the event.

Kudos to Mischo and whoever else helped to put together the event.

It was awesome.

Yah, it was a killer session. Millennium is fun because we can ride the park as well but I'd also like to set up a big course on a bigger hill.

That said, I think a few of us are going to Millennium this afternoon to ride the clover and will peobably set up a TS for awhile as well.

Greg - you in?

TS Jones
On 9/1/2005 Olsen wrote in from Canada  (206.172.nnn.nnn)

With all this talk of TS on the Slalom Forum I am Jonesin' for some TS. Dead straight...5.5-6 foot.....It is truly the most fun and I feel I am better at it than Hybrid...but then I might be dreaming. I still have dreams at 46 that I can 360 like a Carrasco or Howell but the most I ever did was three in a row. Sad ain't it? Never did learn to fakie or ollie either....

Cups
On 9/1/2005 Slob-air wrote in from Canada  (24.71.nnn.nnn)

I can't reveal that! If I told you, I'd have to.... well, not that but.. not till I have a patent on it anyway. :)

The ones on my Vectors were 25-years old and totally disintegrated, but the ones I made for my Bennett Pros, after analyzing them post race, seem to be performing beyond all expectation.

Skating the bowls and fullpipe this weekend so I guess I'll see you at Tuesday's race. Chuck and I were just talking about setting a 60-cone dual hybrid.

I blew out another pivot cup last Tuesday — have to pour a new one before then.

We may race on Sunday as well (minus the Kashman).

Hey man, I didn't mean any disrespect to anyone. :D I would prefer it in montreal even... but I guess I'm biased. Ottawa isn't the most exciting place sometimes. But the dovercourt open was a sick race, for sure. So what the hell do I know anyways. ;)

Michael:
Dude, when do you leave? We should try and synchronize the trip. I have some FRS walkietalkies I could bring out! That would be hilarious.

Come to Montréal, we will show you some nitelife!

Ottawa is THE place for the canadian championship, Claude has been keeping slalom alive in Canada for long enough to justify this location.

Championship in Ottawa?
On 8/25/2005 Chris Barrett wrote in from Canada  (65.94.nnn.nnn)

Hold up... the slalom championships are being held in OTTAWA? That makes a little bit of sense I guess...

I think theres some excellent, near world class runs in Toronto. Much better night life and atmosphere for a championship anyways.

Slalom Completes
On 8/24/2005 gregolsen wrote in from Canada  (209.205.nnn.nnn)

Blair,
Bring in some slalom COMPLETES to seel to the newbies. The only shop in town that even comes close to understanding anything but shortboards, Rednick, is still totally out to lunch on what a slalom board is. They are selling PP with Manx and 180 Seismics!! The rest of the city is Sector 9 or worse.

Heal!
On 8/22/2005 Slob-air wrote in from Canada  (24.71.nnn.nnn)

Heal up quick, Greg--before summer is over (though we could wiggle inside at Source skatepark). It was fun skating with you.

Converts for sure--you could see the stoke in their eyes. Even Snowplow (Chris).

That kids was something else though... "I HAD to go that way" "I had to go smoke a joint" Too bad I didn't HAVE to kick his stupid ass.

We should run some cones later this week.

Stay out of the bowls!!

Wow guys THAT WAS FUN on Sunday!! Thanks Brad and Blair. I think we made some converts to slalom. Despite smashing my heel trying to follow you on your Park Bombing Bowl Blast on a flexy board that sprung me right off on the first transition. And inspite of taking out the stoned teenager who constantly crossed our course without looking up! Well maybe BECAUSE of taking out the stoned out teenager.... Thank goodness for the Hillbilly Heroin (Oxycontin) painkillers I had leftover from a root canal gone bad. I can hardly walk today!

Trucks
On 8/22/2005 Civ wrote in from Canada  (24.141.nnn.nnn)

Jay, grab a tracker rtx, they are cheap and work really well with some wedging. That truck I gave you will work but you need to keep a wrench handy to keep it tight, and on rough stuff it happens faster. Hope this helps.

Blast!
On 8/22/2005 Slob-air wrote in from Canada  (24.71.nnn.nnn)

Hey Kash -- That was a blast yesterday. Clover was a bit of a convection oven under that sun, but rad just the same. Park bombing is always a riot--it really seems to excert our (skaters) ownership of the park as we completely take it over when that goes down--the bmxicans simply flee. Setting up the cones was fun as hell. I was so stoked how interested the popsicle stick kids were when they saw us running the cones. Just goes to show how blinded they are by most skateboard media. If bringing to them gets them stoked and they realise there's so much more to skateboarding, let's bring it to them.

Great way to spend a Sunday.

Found some proper pivot cups for my rig to replace the two that exploded--good to go anytime this week, bro.
