MetroLongboarder's First Session [Toronto]
On 5/4/2008 Tom Browne wrote in from Canada  (76.71.nnn.nnn)

Hey Longboarders,

I hope you all survived the winter in good order. Now the fun starts ...

The first official session of the MetroLongboarders will be Sunday May 11. The meeting time will be 11am at the Timothy's coffee shop at 420 King, one block east of Spadina [Mount Equipment Co-Op building]. We'll depart to the starting destination from there. The first session will be in the Beach's area. The starting meeting point will Glen Manor just north of Queen [blue line on map if you request one] around 11:45.

All following sessions will be every other Sunday. So, the next session will be May 25 ... destination to be determined.

I'll be trying posting all session info, including late updates here at ncdsa.com, toronto.theboardmeeting.net and ontariolongboarding.com as well as sending e-mail via freshpaved.com [toronto group] and my regular e-mail list [metrolongboarder@gmail.com].

Let me know if you'd like a PDF of the poster to put up somewhere - it's about 350kb in size.

I'm open to comments and suggestions for sessions.

Later,
Tom

Beaches session with Toronto's MetroLongboarders
On 10/30/2007 Tom wrote in from United States  (76.65.nnn.nnn)

Hey Gang,

We had a blast in Burlington a couple Sundays back. Good group of sk8ers, generally good locals, 3.5 hours before Lady Law Enforcer moved us along.

This coming Sunday, weather permitting, we're heading back to the Beaches [I have a hard time calling the Beach 'cuz there are like four different named beaches there]. Anyways, if you want to meet at Hogtown around 12noon I can give a couple people rides, or just meet up there. If you want to meet out there, we should be on Glen Manor around 12:40. If you need a map just ask.

Later,
Tom

Toronto: MetroLongboarders Road Trip
On 10/15/2007 Tom wrote in from Canada  (204.40.nnn.nnn)

Hey MetroLongboarders,

This coming Sunday, October 21, is a regular longboarding session with a road trip twist. This is a good session for most skill levels.

If you need a ride, meet at Hogtown around 12 noon.

To keep the cops away we've found that walking up the hill works really well. It's also a good time to talk amongst our selves and say "hi!" to the locals - another way to fend off the cops.

I probably won't have access to the internet after Tuesday at 5pm until next week. Sorry for any inconveniences.

Best regards,
Tom

The Dam
On 10/12/2007 Pre-School Rider wrote in from United States  (75.68.nnn.nnn)

O.k., what of Ball Mt. on the 13th?? It's CLOSED, the gate is up, you'll need to skate in (and out). Use the G.S. hill, it's closer. I'll check in IF I get a phone call saying someone's there. Otherwise, wait...

I've got plans to have Phil (the local, skate-friendly Ranger) meet with GSI and SMS and PODIUM Skate/Snow museum for a talk about The Dam's future in Slalom and D.H. and Sliding (plus the Bowl nearby!) for next year's and beyond contests. Be patient, stay tuned..

And, if you run at The Dam, be nice, quiet, pack-your-trash, etc, as to not intefere with future events. It's gonna be good: almost worth the wait!

My apologies to all... The Job, job training, and the needs of my (now 11 month-old Twins) family came before the planning and execution of Racing at Ball Mountain. I hope you all understand. The death of my parents, combined with these other, new, life experiences, kinda threw me this year. With help, the Dam wll be back as a major race in the New-England arena. I simply cannot do it alone, but I appreciate any and all Enthusiasm about the hills I've uncovered and raced on! Interest alone is a great gauge of my ability to, at least, be a scout for those want to ride faster! ;-)

skip a week
On 10/9/2007 tom wrote in from Canada  (204.40.nnn.nnn)

Hey MetroLongboarders,

We're skipping a week and having the next longboarding session on Sunday October 21. Details for that session will be sent out later this week or early next. Look forward to another road trip!

Best regards,
Tom

In the mean time, here's some other longboarding stuffing for your turkey:

Its that time of year again...the leaves change colors....the temperature is more pleasant...... AND>>>>A bunch of freakin crazy longboarders skate down Broadway in traffic.
SO just to remind you all we meet at:
116th Street and Riverside on Saturday, October 27th at 12 noon.
I think it might be colder than other years as its so late in October. We may look into getting some disposable hoodies, if not we might as someone with a car to take everyone's sweaters, etc., to the Barbecue so we can all be comfortable and not have to prove you're a man by taking the nippy weather.
Looks like Keegan Ales will be at the barbecue supplying the festivities.
See you there.

Crazy longboarding sessin in Toronto
On 9/29/2007 Tom wrote in from United States  (76.68.nnn.nnn)

Just a reminder! BTW We meet at the Lawrence subway station [not St. Lawrence, as I stated before].

----- Original Message -----

Hey MetroLongboarder and others,

This weekend [Sun Sept 30] we'll be having a crazy longboarding session in the city. We'll be doing the run from the Lawrence subway station downhill to the downtown area. On the ride we hit hills, parking garages, banks, and some flat land cruising. We ride on streets, through parks, educational institutions, and cemeteries. All are welcome to rip it up.

Meet at Hogtown around 12 noon or the Lawrence station around 12:45.

Tom
