Cat! Hey, I'm just going to go visit my parents, sister and nephew and maybe go slaloming and park riding with my nephew and either a short trip to our family cabin or backpacking with my sister and nephew. Basically. The COSS race sounds cool.

I realized last night I will be flying to Wyoming May 14th-20th so I won't able to make the Seattle race May 18th. If you guys decide to do any more date changes, then I likely will be able to make it in May. Don't change it just on my account but if a change works better for others, it will for me too.
Thanks - P

Hey THANKS to everyone who showed up and rode, helped cook and arrange food and contributed food and cleaned up and collected cones, etc. Thanks to Pat for his timer efforts.
That was a Great time, it was kinda nice having a smaller group this year compared to last years huge turnout(which was neat to have but I'm not sure I want it to be that big every year). I had a great time actually riding as well as cooking and newbie-clinic-ing.
It was great seeing everyone and talking with everyone. The big surprize was seeing Aaron Burke and Kathleen(? is that her name, I'm so bad about that) and their kid.

Comrades, the weatherburo at www.weather.gov is stating today at 10:40am that there will be a 30% chance of rain in Salem after 11am and 60% chance of rain Sunday Night. So what does that mean?
It means: The BBQ is still officially a "GO" since we've put it on with worse forcasts in the past.
MY LEAF-BLOWER IS DEAD, ANYONE WHO BRINGS A LEAF-BLOWER WILL BE A HUGE HELP!!!! There has been a lot of rain and wind in the last week so I expect the hill to have a lot of twigs and such.
Also remember those CONES and CHALK and PARK DECKS just in case.

As of right now at 2:20pm, the weatherburo at www.weather.gov predicts a partly sunny/cloudy day for Sunday with rain waiting until the evening so what does that mean?
The BBQ is a "GO" for Sunday April 27th 2008!!!!
REMEMBER TO BRING CONES, BLOWERS, BROOMS IF YOU HAVE THEM.
ALSO- BRING YOUR POOL/PARK DECKS just in case we get kicked out we'll go to Aumsville or Newberg, every year our ally back at the maintanence office on weekends is working less on weekends and the new weekend staff are less familiar and less friendly toward us. So far we have been lucky though.
If the weather changes between now and then significantly worse, I'll post a change.

John is projecting to have a race in Auburn in May. I'm helping him out since he has a lot happening right now. I'll let him let everyone know what's going on when he wants to let everyone know about it, but I'm sure he could use some support right now when he's not too busy to recieve it. No, he's not in jail, No, he's not in rehab, No, he didn't get into a car wreck, nor did the legendary alligator that lives in the sewage system leap out of his toilet and bite him on the ass either.
I'm trying to post the race on the Contest Calender but for some reason whatever I write does'nt "stick" on the race page when I try to save it. I'll figure it out hopefully sooner than later.
Thanks - P

Slight change of plans:
Due to a construction project, we are unable to use the Mt Tabor Park site (in Portland). Therefore, all events will be on Saturday and Sunday in Salem at the Soap Box Derby Hill.
Since the Soap Box Derby Hill is not quite steep enough for a slide competition, we will be seeking another hill in Salem for that event. If a hill cannot be secured in time, the Slide event will be cancelled.
The exact schedule of events (Straight 100-cone, Dual Hybrid, GS, and slide) will be in flux until we determine if a steeper hill can be found in Salem.
Those participants coming from out of town should plan on all events being in Salem.

SAME: As in, let's stay with Sunday April 27th (for now, unless that rain's out also), the Weatherburo at www.weather.gov has upped the ante to 70% chance of rain/snow in Salem tomorrow April 20th.
JOHN STRYKER - Sorry to hear about Mom, Best wishes and I hope things go well. Since you're in a bind and running way behind(like the Devil when he went down to Georgia), Give me an approxamate or definate date and I'll get a contest code from Adam and start the signup page and send you the number so you can change or fill in any details. Post the info here or email me with the name click thingy. I might even be able to show up and attend too!
JAMES PETERS - You and the marathon crew and your support crew are the BEST! That's some serious full-on stuff! What more can I say?

I agree, hopefully the 27th works out. I'd like for it not to clash with the May 4th ultraskate, but if it has to it has to. It would only take Sheldon and myself out of the BBQ for sure, and Gareth and his boys who have offered up night-time support for our 24-hour skate (AGAIN!!)
Can you believe--my kid and I are going out to throw snowballs right now --on April 19th?!!
John, best wishes and prayers for your Mother.

Seeking Opinions for People's Slalom....

The Postponement decision was made this afternoon to the 27th of April so that long distance travelers know far enough ahead of time to come out or not.
Here's the Opinion Question:
If by some chance this storm diminishes early and Saterday morning the weatherburo at www.weather.gov predicts less than 50% chance of rain for this Sunday April 20th (like 40%or less), I'm willing to switch and call it a "Go" but I won't be able to check and make an announcement until 10:00am-10:20am.
So, Is that too late? Does everyone want to do it this weekend on such late notice(like it usually was in years past due to the iffy weather)? Or should we stick to the present postponement date of April 27th?
Post here or use the email click thingy on the name thingy. Thanks - PZ

Comrades, Yet again, I do hereby officially POSTPONE the People's Slalom and BBQ. The Weatherburo at www.weather.gov predicts 50% at this point for Sunday.
The new projected date at this point shall be SUNDAY APRIL 27th
I plan on going on a week by week basis on this until we get a good weather weekend. If people think rescheduling every 2 weeks would be better, let me know.
Thanks - PZ

Whew, I was out fasting for several days and on a vision quest, I lost consciousness like I was supposed to and against my will was possesed during my "clear" time. My wife said I was talking in a bostonian accent and "giving the business" to all the neighbors and kept shaving my head, drinking beer and demanding burgers to eat. She thought that was odd behavior and that somehow I was "channeling" and suspected something went awry during the vision quest. The witch doctor on our cul-de-sac was consulted and he had to do an exorcism, I guess, I wasn't really "there" when that happened. I feel better know, but kind of worn out. Anything new with you guys?

Comrades, the Slalom Soviet Weatherburo forcast at www.weather.gov at this point is still predicting 60% chance of showers and possible thunderstorm and hail. An official decree will be pronounced tomorrow Friday evening after recieving tomorrow's forcast by the Weatherburo for Sunday.
On the other hand, consultation with the gypsy fortune-teller reveals a likely posteponement to yet another future date.
Consultation with Yoda reveals that, "Hard it is to see the future, always full of emotion".
