Kenny,
I love you man! Take care of that- lots of ice-and do what they say- don't mess around because you want it to heal right- I would be perfect after my last knee surgery (I had fullrange of motion) -except some lady in a Expedition hit me at a critical stage of healing- so be careful. Treat it like it was made of glass during those days immediately following surgery. Super cautious So sorry to see you are hurting. I bet Ryder who wants to be just like Dad wants a decorative leg cast too.
With one leg- your still twice the skater of everyone else.
My best to you and Robin (Boy is she patient) and Ryder I know I am absolutely intolerable to be with when I'm hurt. But you do well with pain anyhow- you have your own herbal way of dealing with it.
Missing you bud. Keep that elevated- and ice like mad.
Oh, and BTW we are not getting older- just the non skaters are. I hope you are well enough to skate NY's B-Bomb. I'm hoping nano technology medicine will catch up with my knee.
Belated thanks for the x-mas card btw...
JG

7 am surgery tomorrow. Its going to be gnarly. I should be home by noon or 1 pm. Wish me luck. The doc says it'll fix OK, but I wont have much lateral motion. I dont have much now so that wont be too much of a problem. Thank god its not Olson !!!

Gettin it all done by Thursday. Working, icing, elevating. Swelling has gone down a lot, and I think (pray) that I can get the surgery on Thursday. Good news this morning is that I can do it at the Doc's suburban surgery center instead of going to the hospital. That creeps me out. No overnight.
I figure 54 days left until I can walk with crutches. My mood is pretty good, and I have been having a little fun.
This morning. Two appraisals to finish today and tomorrow.

Love the Gorilla Grip, Ed Nadalin would be proud.

Nice collection of barefoot shots for that stroll down memory lane. I remember the LeSport tryouts you all laughed at me riding barefoot in February. First there was the Russ Howell board, then came the Howelly board; drilled with holes for ultra lightness and sweatbands for AIR! Good times!!

Calcaneous, bad bone to break. Lots of stresses of compression, tension and shear forces, and it's a lever - that's why it's the biggest thickest bone in the foot. Just make dang sure it's well healed before doing anything.

Ouch Kenny.
The ankle certainly is swollen, and judging by the big smile on your face, the glass on the arm rest is undoubtedly filled with vodka!
Heal fast & we'll see you in July.
P.S. Yours looks better tan this one.

Thanks everyone, but its going to be fine. I did it to myself. You can see in the picture the moment before the crash it was really dark out. I just couldn't make out the tranny, but had just hit the wall and grinded the coping twice in the same run. I was going for the macho barefoot grind shot, which is really stupid as the PPS D.P. Model is so wide you couldn't even see my face. I have skated so much barefoot the past 5 years, it was bound to happen. I think those barefoot days are over.
I am not bummed right now. I am not in any pain and have had my foot elevated, while working and driving (with my left foot hanging out the window with my boot), and sleeping for most of the past 70 hours. If I can get the swelling down I get surgery next Thursday.
I am starting a blog - 60 days to recovery. today is day 57.
This morning 8 am. Chilling and icing.

It really doesnt look that bad to me. I don't even know if I need the surgery

Re the Columbus Monthly article, I had to chuckle about your wheel drawer in the garage as I have one just like it and have thought the same thing you did on many occasions!
