I agree with both statements. Longboarding videos are not simply entertainment, they are a great way learn techniques, style, and sample different variations of the world-wide longboard culture.
More is better.

I feel that there is no limit to how good or bad a vid should be before someone posts it on the web. Freedom of speech and all that hippy stuff, as well as the fact that if you don't wanna watch it you don't have 2, sits well with me.I wanna see what EVERYONE in the world is doing, not just the guys lucky enough to attend races and ride with the worlds best. That Nazi crap has no place in this sport.

gotta say some of the video's on here are pretty sweet. just thoguht I should comment...even team old schools aren't that bad. and to whoever said shnitzel is jealous...well I can tell you he is not jealous he just speaks his mind. saying that he's jeolous cause he's slowed down and "team old skool" is still at it..well you should see the action shnitz has got going on with the younger generation (me included)it's crazy and VERY active. and for people who may not beleive that the sully is hard or scary..well turst me it is with all the hardcore turns,s#@!ty pavemtn and half decent speeds....like why if it was s#@!ty then why would some of the "best" in te world race it and love it? I also agree with shnitz that your video should be pretty kick ass to put it on the internet....like I know how hard making a video is but your video should still be good before you put it on the internet. well regards Tony

I now believe that on the Bachman Place bomb Marc and I reached speeds of 38 and 35 mph respectively. Fast enough to get the blood pumping, but not so fast as to invite disaster in the presence of traffic. I often suffer from using worn and inexpensive wheels, while Marc was enjoying new ABEC 11 Strykers on Biltin bearings that day.

I want to encourage all of the NCDSA community to check out the NBS video because it really did come out well. The night bombing and carving of Bachman Place is dark so you might need to increase the brightness on your media player. This is some intense footage; I estimate we reach 32 and 35 mph at our fastest point. I knew that Marc was the faster bomber so I took a head start. You can hear Kai, who I believe was filming, call out, "Tighten up!" and that's exactly what Marc does. An oncoming car restricts us to one lane and at the moment Marc overtakes me, we are three abreast! I hope the footage provides a hint of how gnarly this run really was. Marc was calling out, "Inside! Passing on the inside!". Me: "Got it! Go ahead" Marc:"Gonna do my slide real soon here!" Me: "Me too--REAL soon!" and the video shows my toe slide breaking a pendulum. Marc and I have known each other for twenty-one years and we skate together almost every day. Communicating while bombing side by side at speed and while keeping one's nerve in the face of danger is brief and to the point--like fighter pilots, I suppose. This hill makes a sudden transition from smooth to rough just past the point where we pass out of view so the slide is really a necessity.
That overhead footage is shot from the top floor of the parking structure whose spiral appears throughout the video. This must be Longboard Valhalla. Such a killer combination at this spot; the six story spiral (aka the Chaos Helix) together with this sublime hill at its foot. We are the envy of longboarders around the world here in San Diego!
The Chaos Helix gets a lot of footage because it's just so interesting. The video does an excellent job communicating how much damn FUN the ride down is, especially while in close proximity with other riders. It's not actually that fast, but the constant pull makes it like one long carve, or slide, as the case may be. Pause the video in the opening clip and see how each of us has a different cornering technique. The first few times down the challenge is simply to make it without wiping out. We were then able to tinker with various methods of going faster. Racing is fun, with much of the same communication between riders as before during close maneuvering and passes.
There's a lot of footage of Del Mar Ave. We meet there often. The smooth surface, wideness, and steep grade make it ideal for a variety of disciplines. Kai and I both perform slides that I suspect are being seen here for the first time. Note, too, that with the exception of that rainy day, the surface is in its natural state (as opposed to being doctored up and made more slick) and the entire slide is shown. Those two factors allow for a better expression of skill, in my opinion.
Marc bombs a sick hill in Poway that took him 38mph on his 38th birthday and also opened up his head not too long ago. Some extended footage has been put together at http://satori.cyberdojo.com/ninjabombsquad/images/tikibomber.wmv
I can't imagine that Kai's editing will produce much criticism--it appears flawless and contains some clever, if not brilliant, artistic selections especially as it involves the audio. But I am especially interested in reading feedback and evaluations of my style and technique, especially from some veteran riders. Please post or email NinjaBombSquad1904@yahoo.com.

nice video's but those files didn't stream well for my laptop.
have you tried swf video's? most people have flash players. and they stream nicely with a lot less KB. and even better are .mov's
people with nice machines have no problems but many are still struggling with less. and wmf files use the dreaded windows media player ;( . although your video's play nicely, WMF provides holes for hackers. MS keeps pluggin 'em but more exploits keep raging on because of the nature of WMF providing holes for internal use :D
anyways, i suggest using Flix Pro from huntingtonbeach(www.wildform.com) or quicktime(mac crap ;D) since they got a racket on internet streaming video. flix more windows goods and quicktime for macs.
if you're interested. email in private and I can help.
cheers Chris Yandall

Do you want video coverage at a top notch level? If so buy "Mile High VSM" vol.1 "Earth As We Know It". In our 1st issue ever we covered Richy "360 King" Carrassco, Lynn Cooper, Wrex Cook, Dave Davis, The 2003 Breckenridge Slalom- High Peaks Drifter event and many, many more. Many told me to ignore old schoolers and slalom skaters when I set out to make my new series of videos, "Mile High VSM" (video skateboard magazine), saying that portion of the skating community wouldn't support videos by purchasing them. They said "Just do what all the other video companies do and only cover street skaters." WE at Yes Oui Si productions, Inc. disagreed with them and said all modalities of skating have their merits and I was going to include, ramp, vert, slalom, competition skating as well as old school, street and park. It truly is skating A-Z, you'll love this video. We love Concrete Wave magazine and what it stands for, thanks to you. So, was I right or wrong? Should I continue to give coverage to your portion of the skating world or simply cover the street skaters like everyone else? Only you can make that decsion by either purchasing or not our new video magazine. If you do, you'll be glad you did, it's an amazing 52 minute cutting edge video magazine set to some awesome music by some of the hottest up-n-coming bands in the Rocky Mountain Region. You'll hear Rock, Rap, Punk, Metal and more. The video and music editing is state of the art by Darrell Quandt and award winning Antoinette Clark, with some awesome segways and hilarious credits. To read more about this video visit our website at www.yesouisi.com For T-shirts, hoodies and schwag go to www.cafepress.com/yesouisi or to purchase our 1st ever issue Send cash, check or money order for $20.00 USD- per video (includes shipping) Please print clearly: DVD or VHS and include Name, Shipping address To: Martin McGuire c/o Mile High VSM 6671 S.
