Aydin, it's winter in the northern hemisphere where the bulk of our members live. You'll see more posting here when the snow clears, rain-soaked streets dry, sand/salt get swept up, and temperatures climb back above freezing.

Not enough people post, and not fast enough. I frequent automotive forums (My new thing is my camaro and mustang, and making them faster) and on those forums, People will have 100's of posts on any given topic in one day. Just an observation, but things take more time here. Let's get things going!! Trying to motovate.....

Thanks again Jogger! I'm glad you all like it. the direct link is now permantly:

I appreciate the hosting! Jogger has lots of nice videos on his site.
I made this video with a broad appeal to twords the lifestyle. I am thinking of making a new one that directly focuses on longboarding and it's style. Yes, Ninja, I refer my personal stlye to "surf style" It memics the moves of the local surfers at my beach, oak st. With my own twist on things.
Contrarry to what alot of people assume, I have never surfed. I guess my theory is to make everthings flow, and look good. I try to add technical difficulty also. That's where the banks come in. They are my concrete waves. And make things more interesting than hills, (to me) by having the up/down transitions. When I tried gloves an a long smooth road, Newport coast rd. (the one where my friend in the helmet is bombing down at high speed) I could do the slides that are commenly found in alot of videos, and closely associated with "downhill". But it realy has no appeal to me, seeing how it does not really look like anything. (surfing/snowboarding) it's just....high speed slides......I like adding the obsticals. (walls/banks/etc.) But I respect it. Although I find it pretty easy. Hitting a stylish slide when you are almost horizontal seems more badass to me! I like this site and would enjoy discussing these topics more with you all.

Surf-Style?
On 1/27/2005 Ninja_Graham wrote in from United States  (66.53.nnn.nnn)

I know what you mean. I've been going without gloves these past few days and I like it. The use of sliding gloves adds a whole new aspect to longboarding but there is also something lost in the process, I agree.

I'm downloading your video again on this other computer and we can talk about specific techniques after that. MalakaiKingston is writing an article covering the entire spectrum of skateboard sliding and I'm curious the see where your style fits in. Is there a "surf-style" that can be applied to, say, deep lean carving on steep hills?

Keep posting!

Cool
On 1/27/2005 Aydin wrote in from United States  (68.101.nnn.nnn)

Ya, those vids are cool bro! I just checked them. Like I said, that's not really my style anymore. I'm into more of a standup cut/carve nowadays. I get low every now and then though. And I don't wear pads or gloves. Somehow it takes away from the experiance for me. We used to race down skyline every year on halloween, dressed up like kooks haha, pretty fun. But come up here anytime, and I'll show you all the sweet banks and good spots that Laguna has to offer.

Laguna Beach isn't far at all. I went on a road trip up there with my ninja someOner last year. We checked out some outrageous runs ... I think we took Skyline Drive up and made an attempt at that insane hill and leads back towards the beach. You've got a lot of slippery side roads there near downtown, I recall. Yeah, Laguna Beach looks like a killer longboarding town, I must say.

Thing is, I was reading your, "it seems like I have more style than just about anyone else" post and just a couple days ago I was saying practically the same thing to my bro about MY style. I mean, there's got to be someone out there that can carve and flex skills the way I do, but where the hell are they?! I haven't met them yet. I cut hills to pieces and flow like a midnight ghost bomber. My ninja MalakaiKingston glides through pendulums and 360s like an octopus. I like your style, Aydin, I like your cutbacks on them banks, but you ought to check out Ninja Bomb Squad from San Diego

Watch "Gravity" and "Longboard Blues" and slow your roll a bit. Gravity is on Jogger's site, too, if you want to get it from there.

Well, I have no license for 2 more months, but i'd come down there. Otherwise cruise up to Laguna Beach, that's where I am. We'll rip it up! Got any vids?? I'd like to see your stuff!
I can pretty much bust out any slide. I'd like to add some new ones to my bag of tricks! I usually do surf-style moves, But I can rip the downhill slides too. Banks/hips are my favorite though. So, let's see it! --> Jogger, I emailed you the video. Thanks for hosting it.

The reason I ask is that I'm from San Diego and I'm thinking I might take you to school some time if you're around ... That's not to say your slides, especially some of that sic s#@! on the banks, aren't cool, but I know our crew can throw some slides you don't know nuthin' 'bout. Let's do this!

Glad you liked it dude, sorry if I came off sounding like a dick.
I reaelize alot of people can do the same moves, but it's the style they use that is important to me. Just because someone can do a certain slide dosn't mean they will look good doing it.....

Nice video
On 1/26/2005 Ben wrote in from United States  (159.230.nnn.nnn)

I liked your video. It was edited really well and that made it really nice. You were talking alot of s#@! and i am no short boarder(so i cant do any of your short boarding tricks) but all of the longboarding tricks were things most people can do. I am impressed that you dont use gloves and i am also glad that i am not the only one that does really stupid stuff in my really crappy car. 135 isnt fast in a car!!! Once agian alot of people have done that too. I have only been just over 145 in a car and it wasnt in the middle of the night with no one else on the road. Dont talk s#@! in less you know you are the badest thing out there. I am not talking s#@! becuase i know i am not the best out there! But that was a really good video!!! Keep it up man watching other people that love to longboard and make trouble is a good thing.

BADASS VIDEO
On 1/26/2005 Aydin wrote in from United States  (68.101.nnn.nnn)

Not trying to be a jerk but damn, i've been longboarding for 5 years, And it seems like I have more style than just about anyone else. John Dread is pretty damn good, And Biker too. But come on. No wonder everyone wants to be able to flow the way I do. Check the vid and try and bring some. My slides have so much more SOUL than anyone else I've ever seen. I'm not bragging, that's just the way it is! Give me some feedback. And requests? I edit films for a living. I'm always out filming, and innovating. I'll shoot some moves you want to see, just ask. Anyways I kill it.
Late,
