Re-Stims from Tracker
On 11/18/2005 Paul Howard wrote in from United States  (64.5.nnn.nnn)

Not likely, I tried already and they did'nt show much interest when I talked to them about a year ago but that would be great if everyone did email them about it. Otherwise I'd order stims from Geezer or try my Khiro modification doo-dads for the time being, and eventually Chaput is supposed to come up with something. Er, uh, cough, umm, Wallgren, cough, might, um, come up with something as well, um, someday. He's a handy guy like that.

James-thanks for the info, good to know, see you at the next thingy-Hey, did you get the email from Capt'n Dave about slaloming this weekend? I might be up for something on Sunday if something is happening.

Pumping setup
On 11/18/2005 G7enn wrote in from United Kingdom  (80.229.nnn.nnn)

My favourite pumping trucks (on a 38" fibreflex with Flashbacks) are a wedged seismic on the front and a sixtrack on the back. Two Seismics works almost as well. I think the seismics work well for pumping because you get so much rebound out of the springs, springs don't have the built in damping of urethane bushings.

hey prof. howard, you captured the essence of the word, though one would have to employ unicode value U+00E9 to write "passé" properly. a true nerd might appreciate that, so I thought I'd pass it along :-)

so how much kicking and screaming from the slalom community would it take to get stims back into production? is that even possible? otherwise I'll probably be chopping up a couple abec11 wheels...

Tracker Stims
On 11/17/2005 Pauliwog wrote in from United States  (64.5.nnn.nnn)

Stims.....A moment of silence please,...............

OK, they were made in the late 80's to early 90's if my memory serves me correctly and were for the Tracker Aggro truck(also probably the best truck Tracker EVER made for vert, I love the ones I kept).

The reason they quit production was the "Techno-Street Revolution" where turning became passe'(sp?) and looked on as out-of-date and uncool and super tight trucks and ollie flippy tricks(not that there's anything wrong with that kind of skating) and hard bushings in trucks that don't turn came to dominate the skate culture and industry.

HERE'S MY TIP- Use the Khiro bushing combo that has the full height bottom barrel bushing and the full height top conical bushing with the aluminum insert.
Then, take your bushing hardness of choice (matching what you have on the truck) and get several extra bottom barrel bushings of that same hardness.
Next- Put the barrel bushing on a dowel and get a really thin and really sharp knife like an Exacto, razor blade, paring knife, scalpel, etc and cut around the bushing circumferentially so that you get 3 or 4 thin wafer-like "bushing doughnuts". Put one of these doughnuts on top of your bottom bushing under the hanger, and/or put one of these doughnuts under your top bushing on top of the hanger. This will give you more swing to your hanger and you can preload your kingpin nut down a little snugger to get rid of the wobbly-ness of a super loose truck yet still have more material to compress to allow easier and more hanger swing. Oh, This WILL require you to change out your kingpins for a longer than stock kingpin. You can get this at most hardware stores, just get6 a 3/8" bolt Grade 8 and make sure the threads match. This is about as close as you can get to simulating a Stimulator(which also often requires longer kingpin replacements).

Good Luck-Paul

Stims
On 11/17/2005 T.O. wrote in from United States  (12.148.nnn.nnn)

They are nearly alive with rebound properties and have a nice big juicy shape
that actually fills the voids between baseplates, hangers and cap washers... :-)

They work really well in their full original shape in the back trucks of my slalom setups.

Is it just me or is there anyone else who's as astonished as I am that these are not the standard issue in Tracker trucks.....? And yes, I'd pay a bit more too to have a truck closer to being dialed in right out of the package with premium
bushings installed in the first place....

Carvers are great. They pump REALLY easy and you can get going pretty fast. When you are riding them it feels like you are on water.

Carver CX trucks?
On 11/16/2005 airin wrote in from Canada  (142.22.nnn.nnn)

I'm considering getting a set of Carvers. Anyone have any experience these trucks? I'm not thinking of downhill but rather flatland cruising and particarly long distance pumping for these trucks.

I just made a 60 inch deck from 11 layer ply wood. There is cut outs for the wheels, but not concave or anything obviously. What size of trucks/wheels would you suggest using for it?

Well they do have that handy bottle opener built in. Probably great for a beer drinking person.
Aren't they made by the same people as Indies?

yeah , i think the kingpin gives it away , took a bit of figur'n though,i'm not all that familiar with holeys and crails. I like the look of those the best, even though they are a bit heavier,i'm happy that i make my own trucks, these would be hard to choose from.
