My 42" Deplo is set up with 188mm Indys and 70mm Kryptos. It is a responsive smooth carver, with just the right amount of flex. (I wiegh 185) A wide board with a great shape I highly recomend it as a top notch carver, and smooth downhill speedboard. Take a look at Deplos website, which you can reach in the links section of this website.

I just bought a new deck from a local guy here in South Cocoa Beach FL. This cat hand shapes every deck like you would a surfboard. He's got five shapes, all based on classic longboard surfboards. I just bought the fish model and it f*cking rips man! Perfect flex, and width. Plus, for under $50, you get whatever you want hand painted on the bottom. I got an absolutely smokin' portrait of Marley. For the life of me, I can't remember dudes name, but if you want to check it out, you can E-mail him at:

G&S Fibreflex 38"

I got the 38" Fibreflex. It is fantastic board. The vertical laminate gives it a great response. The shape is very finctional, cut away nose to a pin tail. There are also multipe mounts for truck position. Larry Gordon told me that the first batch of 44"s were too soft for my weight (180 lbs) but I was looking for more of a GS board. I am also using DeckSkin instead of grip tape. It is much better than the traditional tape. Non abrasive and stickey. This is a great deck and I cannot wait until my e.xkate trucks get here. remember, it is not how big it is, it's what you can do with it....

People have been asking about how to get the fiberflex 44" longboard. I would suggest contacting Gordon and Smith directly at 619-581-5155.

Old Growth Custom Longboards 45" Longboard

If you're looking for something a bit different, you should give this deck a try. Each deck is custom made out of some of the best hardwoods available. My deck is made of solid ash with purple heart stringers running the length, giving it a look and feel that you're not going to find in a normal ply laminate board. It rides like a tank. The solid wood dampens vibrations like nothing you've ever ridden, and it performs well in just about any situation. At 45" and with me weighing about 185 lbs., there's virtually no flex--something hard to find in most longboards.
Old Growth Custom Longboards come in various shapes and sizes and can be ordered as decks or completes (set up with Independent 166s or 215s, Kryptonics 70 mm's, and good bearings). Decks run $50.00 and completes are $125.00, plus another $10.00 to $15.00 for shipping. For more information, contact:

the vintage soul is 43" long, with a gentle concavity that lets you feel where your feet are on the rails. it's got a tail and it's shape is real jack-of-all-trades. in all the longboarding websites i've been to, not once have i seen anybody mention this board. this is my first longboard, but i've ridden my friends' (pele, gravity, sector) and i have to say that i still like my g&s. my skill level is definitely *novice*, but the soul flow daily increases. if you own a g&s vintage, e-mail me and tell me your experience.

I have been riding this board for about 2 weeks. It is incredible. I've put a set of Nineballs on it along with the EXkate trucks. The flex and snap are out of this world. In 1965 or so, Larry Gordon and Mike Smith brought the skate world something extraordinary. They started making Fibreflexes again in the mid 70's. Reissues from Acme are cool, but this is the REAL MCCOY!
Run....no skate down to your local shop and demand they get this carving monster in! The workmanship is superb and you know everything is right with the world when you blow the new schoolers away with this awesome deck.

i have a Sector 9 swallow tale, & think its a pretty rad board but i havent seen any around. If you have one it`d be good to see what you think of them. I find them great for bombing fast runs. I have soft wheels so its great for carving at high speeds, with coleman gloves, but not so good for slidiing.

Ive purchased a total of 3 Gravity boards from the Purple Skunk, SF.The 1st one snapped downward behind the front truck after hitting a curb head on going about 20. I got a good deal on a new one from Wendell and wore it out. The last one I bought is being ridden a little lighter. I put some Randall Comp trucks and some 90A wheels and its tits. Super light and slides with ease. Stable as shit at any speed(that ive ridden). I ride it everyday as trans- portation. A+

D'Adv 48" Classic - Jerry Lopez

(Pronounced Duh-ad'-vee) This is a beautiful deck. It should be on my wall, not on the street. But since the guys at D'Adv sent it up to me gratis, to be ridden by all at the Scott Creek ride on Sunday, it is now a functioning longboard, not a piece of art.
This is a 48"x10" board with a classic surf shape. The whole board is slightly bowed, with more curve at the rear creating a small kick tail. I looks like about 8 plys, with a 1/4 hardwood top. The beauty of this deck is the hardwood top: full length stips of maple, purple heart, and few other hawiian woods I can't spell or pronounce. The combination of the 8-ply and the hardwood top gave perfect flex for my 200 lbs. A smooth, stylin' ride, and a head-turner, too! I can see why surf legend Jerry Lopez endorses this board with his signature.

The G&S Fibreflex is back!
Yeah, I know what you're thinking. Acme has been making Fibreflexes for years. Well, yes they have, reproductions of the classic, i.e., short Fibreflex. But they've just just released two models of Fibreflex longboards, a 38" and a 44". Both are the classic construction--ply core inside a fiberglass sandwich with a real good camber. Both models come with two sets of truck holes on the front and back, so you can adjust the flex by moving the trucks forward and back.
The 44" seemed a bit too flexy at my weight (180-190 lbs, haven't checked lately), even with the trucks mounted on the inner less flexy settings. I called a guy at G&S and he said they were thinking of making the 44" more rigid in future batches. He said that the 38" should be a bit stiffer.
Anyway, they didn't have a demo set up, but they looked great. The shapes are reminiscent of the old G&S slalom decks with the tapered tails. Just thought you'd like to know. Keep your toes on the nose,
The Gunster

as i read through these reviews, i can't help but notice every 3rd one is about Sector 9 product. these boards do not merit this amount of praise.. as a major retailer of longboards in the east, we once sold this product. our experience with it was , lets say, less than stellar. we got shoddy product & an even shoddier attitude when we tried to get the company to deal with it. the companys representatives are arrogant little shits who actually claimed that they 'invented' the longboard, and further, that they started the 'longboard revolution'. WE BELIEVE THAT ITS ABOUT TIME SECTOR 9 GIVE US SUBSTANTIVE PROOF OF THESE STATEMENTS.

freeride fish 41.5"

As my first new longboard, I bought the Bare Back (see below). I goofed and got trucks that were too long for the anti-bite holes / hubbed wheel combo, and decided to get a second deck for the trucks (Indy 156s, and I ended up just getting symetrical wheels for the BB), and so I would have a second tool to indoctrinate my ex-skater friends. I'm glad I made the mistake! I spent about an hour with my local skate shop dude (Tom at Gravity - thanks) going between the Sector 9 Super Cruiser and the freeride fish. I wanted a board with very different characteristics than the the stiffer, but very solid Bare Back, to add variety to my selection. The freeride was the answer. Tom said the Super Cruiser would be similar to the BB, and that the freeride would be a more fun ride. Fun it is! A way carvy, whippy little longboard! Huge kicktail (ollying would be NO problem if you are so inclined). Pumpy, snappy (NOT MUSHY!), and slippery, this fish stinks! And that's a good thing.

Bare Back 44"

Well, I hadn't done much skating in the last 5 years, but when I saw that longboards were back, I couldn't fight the urge. I checked out the Gravity boards, missed the Sectors, and decided I liked the looks of the wide, long, Bare Back. For a stable, solid, long arcing carve, this board rocks! Matched with my old Indy 156s, and Bones Bombers (68mm, 85a, China Bones), the Bare Back is a rock on the hills. I guess you could do tricks with this twin tailer, but the board is really heavy. I like it a lot, but needed a second board for more carving performance (see freeride above). Be careful with your wheel/truck selection, due to the anti-wheel-bite holes. Hubbed wheels will need shorter trucks than the symetrical Bombers (the Bare Back 85a 66mm wheels are really nice, but I am using them on another board because of the long Indy trucks). Write if you want more info. I guess

I got a One Way 60" board a few months ago. It came equipped with 65 mm One Way wheels, Gullwing (yellow) trucks, and really bad bearings. To make it work, I put on Invader 183 mm trucks, German made bearings, and 70 mm Red Kryptonics. Now the thing's a laugh to ride. But before, no way, One Way.

This is my first long board and I couldn't be happier with it. It isn't the greatest board at fast downhill speeds, but as far as a slalom board it is the shit. I put some 65mm 78A Krypto's on this board and it rides like a Caddy. Buy this board for downtown or the beach.

I have been riding Sector 9 for about a year. The board is a 44 inch 5-ply with a shallow kick tail. I have demo'd other boards but haven't found anything as smooth as this. The Sector 9 9-Balls with Independant trucks are perfect for cutting. The flex on this board is perfect for leaning into turns. Even the tail is perfect for rear wheel slides down drops. Pure performance.
