Mike, that was the lamest poem I ever read. You ever think about walking the hill you are about to bomb, before launching yourself into certain disaster? It's alot better to spot speed bumps on foot, rather than at 25 MPH on yer longboard, Bro!

Having completed my first weekend of longboarding and developing my only way of stopping so far, the bale and run as fast as possible. I wrote this, Ode to Speed Bumps.
Oh Speed Bump, how evil you are, you lie and wait for us unsuspecting dudes, as we carve and tuck to optimum speed, then there you are, from out of nowhere, you stretch across our path, you know I can't yet Ollie a 4 foot board, cursed are you above all other obstacles, our destiny, road rash.
Oh Speed Bump, I am horror stricken when I see you, I pause for a moment to gauge my speed, without doubt I am going much to fast, carving at this point will only make for entertaining display just prior to my wipeout, to bale or not to bale that is the question. You will not defeat me forever, for I have the weapons of the Ollie, the Coleman, I will find a way.

I finnished building my board about a month ago I just love cruisin and carvin down the hills. We've got some great ones here in Tasmania and we just groove. My board is about 46" x 8" with B52 trucks and sector 9 70mm softies. my board just glides. I don't know any one else in tas who longboards though, it would be cool to meat some others. Also I would like to get into a bit of off road boarding. Email if you like

Its all about basics and your own style..find a kick little hill (or whatever), bend your knees, do something with your arms, relax and cruuuuise....
(Ps. anyone know of any places to longboard --like a fat skate park-- in southern California around the Orange County area?)

Like the guy said in the movie, "Go that way, very fast. And if something gets in your way, turn." and do a christy.

Have fun.
longboarding is about the ride.
whatever you do is yours and yours alone.
find your own little hill ( or big ass one for that matter)
and ride like the wind.
Skate hard, HAVE FUN!

skitching- sneak up on vehicles, grab on , hold and skitch(dangerous)! Another thing that is pretty cool is going downtown, find one of those parking buildings with levels, and ride the ramps all the way down(watch out for cars)! The best thing to do is find slightly rolling hills, and fly. Or just chill and cruize the neighborhoods. Sidewalk surf, driveway to driveway, ride withmomentum, transportation. .............BE SMOOTH, LOOK GOOD, HAVE STYLE!

Hey....I love to Long board down hills but here in Ohio there arent to many hills. So when i cant speed down some hills I grind! It is pretty easy once you get the hang of it. just tip the board up onto the thing your grinding. Then just grind like crazy.. Its really fun. Go for it!

When bombing monster hills, just relax, with the right equipment you won't experience the death wobble. But if you get all tense and psyched out, you will bail and be splattered. So be mellow and go with the cosmic flow.

TO DO THIS CARVE YOU HAVE TO TIGHTEN
YOUR TRUCKS UNTILL YOU HAVE NO SPRING
OR UNTIL YOU CAN LIFT YOUR WHEELS BY LEANING

IN A PARKING LOT OR A HUGE INTERSECTION

LEAN FOWARD WHILE PUSHING DOWN ON YOUR HEEL SIDE
(KIND OF LIKE STOPPING ON A SNOW BOARD)

LIFT YOUR SIDE WHEELS AND CARVE 360
BY PUTTING SLIGHT PRESSURE ON THE TAIL, BUT NOT ENOUGH
TO LIFT YOUR WHEELS ALL THE WAY.

BEST DONE ON SHORTER BOARDS

longboarding is all about carving and just having fun, all those tricks shortboarders are great and probebly take alot of time to master but that's not what longboarding is about, it's about just bombing a hill or just cruising with freinds in style and if you dont have many hills but you do have a boardwalk on the oceanfront skate there that's some fun stuff

I have found that instead of dragging your foot, it helps
to stamp it on the ground, basically the same as the foot
drag, just pick up your foot and slam it down, kind of like
pushing but your not pushing

I ride the Powell Hot Rod, Indy 215s, and XT dirt wheels.
Needless to say, it is too tall to pop ANYTHING.
But- I found some binding-like things that allow all sorts of hooligan moves.
They're curved plastic pieces that hold you in good, but are still ditchable.
I saw them ONCE at Go Skate, bought them, and haven't seen them since, so good luck.

I enjoy doing 180 and 360 nose turns on wet hills. It is quite easy
to learn, just keep your feet perpendicular to the board and try not to
let the back wheels drag too much.

Bomb Tree Barrel

I bomb down this steep ass hill then make a quick cut onto a
wavy sidewalk that goes downhill also and get as low as I
can go and hope not to brush the tree or bush. It's a sick rush.
