Grand Opening is set for Thursday, February 22, at 3:00 p.m.

I've been put in charge of getting all the skateboarders for this event. So far I have all men and boys skating. I am looking for women and girls to contact me to skate the event.

The new 15,000 square foot skate park at Mike Fox Park is opening soon. The Grand Opening is set for Thursday, February 22, at 3:00 p.m. Designed by Wormhoudt, Inc, it will be Santa Cruz's first permanent skate park since Derby Park and features a full pipe, bowls, street style skating and more.

florida hills
On 2/7/2007 snoball wrote in from United States  (72.185.nnn.nnn)

sinnergirl, there are hills in this state..though not like anything you'd find in the carolinas or out west...start with google and be creative..get in your car and drive....that's how most skaters find their spots but they are jealously guarded once found and some are disinclined to post about them online...it only takes one of your favorite spots getting blown out and shut down as the result of some skate punk(s) to learn why they're kept on the down low...especially in a state that has only so many available..

unlike the old days, you have access to the internet and determination to find what it is you want...

Hey Joyce,
You did fine at Pump Station! A few falls--- so what? You got right back up & did it again! I still have scars from when I first started slalom-- I wear them proudly, kind of like battle scars.
Thanks for helping at the race-- you did a great job making sure everyone started when it was their turn.
As far as you catching me next time at a race--- in your dreams, girlfriend, in your dreams!!!!!
Sorry you're going to miss Texas.
See ya at the next one in my rear view mirror!!!
Love ya-- Cat!

Great skating last weekend, by everyone but myself. Still getting used to Pump Station;s hill. Hello Isabelle, thanks for your time last weekend, you are a good coach.
Cat, how u doing? I will catch you next time at a race, in more ways than one. Very good to hook up and skate last weekend.
Trish, thanks for offering me a board. Now i think im good for boards, Just got AXE III and am planning to use it throughout the years. First time tonite at Sky Dome parking garage and for a special session, across the street at a P11. Its all indoors for a few months because of the snow.
Have a great time in Texas but I have to decline. Maybe next year. This year I have plans for Kona, Colorado and North Carolina, Ottawa and more. No Europe this year. So see you Bras later.

Hi Isabelle. I want to go to your DHD day Jan 27. My only problem is that I am only bringing one board and it may not be the right one, so if i may borrow a longboard or something that would be great. The board I am bringing is very versatile so it should suffice.
We will have fun! See you next week.

Slalom and slide Classes in Santa Cruz
On 1/14/2007 Judi Oyama wrote in from United States  (69.225.nnn.nnn)

I will be teaching a couple of skateboard classes this spring 2007. May 12 th will be a slalom skateboarding class will teach basic skills on balance and technique. We will split the class into groups based on skill level. Class will start with a short review on safety, proper helmet fit, slides, footbraking and pumping. It's fun, great exercise and does not require much equipment. Basic skateboard skills required. Skater should be able to push start and turn. World record downhill and former World Champion, John Hutson, Freestyle Champion, Gary Holl and professional racer John Ravitch will assist with instruction. Bring your own skateboard. Helmets, knee pads and elbow pads required.

Beginning/Intermediate Slalom Skateboard Class Santa Cruz

June 9 th is the Skateboard Slide Class.
Have you ever gotten going to fast and couldn't run it out. This will be a good back pocket tool to get yourself out of a bad situation. Worth taking with skate legend Cliff Coleman.
Description:
Learning skate sliding techniques helps with numerous aspects of skating and increases safety in the sport. Slide class will teach skateboarders how to slide stop and slide to turn. Cliff Coleman will help teach the class. Cliff is a world class slalom skateboarder and teaches slide clinics worldwide.
