slider gloves
On 10/14/2000 MikeD wrote in from (146.137.nnn.nnn)

Anybody know an online store to get sliding gloves? no stores around where i live (chicago illinois) have them, but i do go to san fransisco with my dad in the summer. I could probably get some there but i dont want to have torn up hands until mid summer break; skating to work isnt fun when your hands are all covered in road burn.
thanks,
mikeD

Hey, Fuzz! What was the programme called (on Rapture) featuring La Jolla downhill action? By the way, have you seen the new channel called Extreme, on Sky Digital/Cable? Has a good selection of skating/surfing programmes.

FUZZ TV

After partaking of several of my preferred beverages (Caffrey's ofcourse!) on Saturday night, I returned home (with missus) and mindlessley settled down to stare at 'OMEN III' on the tube...
During a commercial break I succumbed to some channel hopping (I refrain from using the word 'surfing') and happened across a CHANNEL 4 show entitled 'SLAM' (ooo-er, cheesey!)... featured were the OXOX TOOL TEAM pulling some rather attractive downhill-carve action, old bean...up in the mountains, super-smooth tarmac...
Anyone know who these guys are? (MANU?)
And Sunday... Rapture channel (SAT & CABLE) featured some 'gnarly dudes' (cringe) downhilling at La Jolla Private Community... who were these guys? And an 'old' guy with camper and beard (looks kinda like Jack O'neill).

Allways on the lookout...

sikaflex
On 10/5/2000 tony wrote in from (63.226.nnn.nnn)

We use it for filling expansion joints at skateparks. You can but it at most masonry supply stores. For shoes and whatnot, if you use an ice cube to spread it, it goes on smooth and pro looking and will not stick to the ice.

sikaflex
On 10/5/2000 Nick wrote in from (203.96.nnn.nnn)

I found it via a net search under sikaflex. It is made by the sika corporation. They make many similar things, sikathis and sikathat. Sikaflex is made for filling/sealing gaps in concrete. I will check for a contact and post tomorrow, but can,t get to it now cause people are sleeping.

Sikaflex
On 10/4/2000 Nick wrote in from (203.96.nnn.nnn)

I am in no way associated with this company, but highly recomend there product for skate shoe repair. You know how shoo goo always comes loose after a couple of skates, sikaflex sticks like a leech, you can,t even clean the stuff off your spreader. Just make sure you don,t spill it anywhere or you,ll be in trouble.
I,m even thinking of trying to mould some soft bushings with it. It is a urethane of about 50-60a.
If you try this slap on a mask cause it has one foul smell which probably isn,t the best for you.

Loctite, good, hurt self, bad
On 9/29/2000 Chris wrote in from (208.164.nnn.nnn)

Todcar,

I don't know how this stacks up on the brightness scale, but I was trying to open mine by sawing away at the little tiny plastic cap with these fairly wicked serrated-edged steak knives we have. My wife comes up and says, "You idiot, we have scissors."

Ugh, scissor less likely to cut crap out of finger than shiny sharp stick.

I bit the top off a tube of it and applied the stuff to my seismic bolts....but I nearly puked when I accidentally tasted some. Hopefully you are all a bit brighter than me.

Misterbill,

Thanks for the info. The instructions on the back of the package were pretty bad. They have a web site, big site, lots of pages, java script, complete online catalog, everything you'd ever want, except for clarification on how to proper use their poorly labeled products.

Loctite
On 9/28/2000 Misterbill wrote in from (158.252.nnn.nnn)

Loctite is made by The Loctite Corporation, Automotive and Consumer Group, Cleveland Ohio. Loctite is a liquid thread fixing compound and can eat some plastics. It is not a nylon compound, but more of an acrylic.
The "Blue" is also known as "242 Threadlocker" or part No. 24200. Probably the best all around type for skate applications. As for the times listed on the tubes, 20 minutes refers to the time it takes for initial set up "after" assembly. This is when the part can be used safely. After 24 hours it has completely hardened. Loctite-ed hardware should be assembled immediately, while the loctite is still wet and can flow into the threads.

Loctite?
On 9/28/2000 Nick wrote in from (203.96.nnn.nnn)

Hey guys, is this "loctite" some sort of tube of nylon like compound to add to nuts to make locknuts?
If so, who makes it?
Cheers.

LOctite Blue & Red
On 9/25/2000 Misterbill wrote in from (158.252.nnn.nnn)

In our bike shop we use Loctite Blue for little bolts, shoe cleats and chainring, bolts basicly anything that will be vibrated loose, but it is still easy to break it free with wery small hex wrenches. Red Loctite is what we use on brake rotor bolts and other high-heat high-stress applications. If you have problems with hardware loosening then try the Red, but don't use alot.

loctite
On 9/25/2000 hugh r wrote in from (205.216.nnn.nnn)

Chris S,

Not sure what that means, but their is another loctite product that may work better for skating applications... it's called "guntite". It is used to hold scope mounting screws. It holds up well under recoil... might hold up a little better for vibrating parts than the regular stuff.

There are also several stronger automotive types made by loctite that may last longer too... HR

Loctite for Seismics
On 9/25/2000 Chris S wrote in from (208.164.nnn.nnn)

I was changing wheels on my Seismics yesterday, and I noticed that the Loctite was gone on the wheel-mounting screws. I didn't want to chance losing a wheel, so I figure I'd wait until I could get some more Loctite. Well, I got some and reading the package, it has a table that says

Cure
Fixture/Full 20 min./24 hrs.

I assume that means that I have to let it sit for 20 minutes before putting the screw back in, but does that also mean that I have to let it cure for 24 hours. Anyone know for sure? Let me know. Thanks,

Chris
