Deathbox boards

Hey Park and Pool Rippers all Deathbox products are available at skateboard.com or ask your local sk8 shop to carry them.
As to Jay's Pool invitational you know there are many who should be in this contest. To limit it to only 25 riders is going to be hard. more info later.

Old Parks
On 6/18/2002 loneskater wrote in from (159.87.nnn.nnn)

in 1986-87 i skated a defunct park behind some softball fields near Emerald Isle, North Carolina (that is what i remember). it had to have been built in the late 70's, small banked run, bowl etc. what was kinda wild was no one skated it, most of the kids were into the Natas/street thing. there were pine trees 6-8 inches around growing in the middle of the park. does/did anyone know the name or what it was called? the other day i found some old pictures of me skating there and i couldn't remember the name. another forgotten park of the 70's. George.

New concrete in Monrovia
On 6/18/2002 Ben wrote in from (4.41.nnn.nnn)

Great! My interest in this site had diminished over these
past months, but today, while perrusing, I came accross
this new FORUM here! Very stoked. Just thought I'd
announce that the city of Monrovia,Ca (my home town) now has
a public concrete skatepark. I've worked for this for the
last two years, attending monthly skate commitee meetings
and submiting designs & such. And now it's here. Wally
Holliday built it I'm told- I wasn't in town during
construction. I don't have digital images of it yet & I'm
not sure how to post them here anyway. I designed the new
Washboard for the Milpitas Vans in semi-replication of the
Winchester washboard, but after riding it I wanted it to be
more bowled in and not so uni-directional so I came up with
the concept of the"Rythm Bowl"-a bowl with a"rythm section"
joining the shallow & Deep ends. At the workshop with the
architects I gave them this 'concept design' with which they
came up with what is now built at the Monrovia park. Which
is actually a mini rythm bowl cuz the deep end is only 5ft
deep. They promised me atleast 8ft the last time I spoke
with them but I didn't pursue it any further. Bummer but
atleast the first ryhtm bowl is built and it does have
plenty of speed lines once you figure it out. I hope to get
a vert one built for somebody else- maybe vans-
and with pool coping!

Death Box
On 6/17/2002 lbk wrote in from (166.90.nnn.nnn)

Tway, I don't want to say "I told you so" but I told you so about those soft wheels in the park. That Death Box board will ride so much faster with hard wheels. When Chaput comes out with his new wheels (Reform Skoolz aka No Skoolz) put only the hardest ones on that board. You will then carve yourself into a Death Box Spiral.

wow...that's funny. They seem to be the only place they sell the Iron Cross model. They don't even have it on the Deathbox web page which is even stranger...

In any event, thanks for the info. I like the long 17" plus wheel base.

Deathbox Has No Mercy
On 6/17/2002 tway wrote in from (24.187.nnn.nnn)

you can find details on this killer deck @:

http://www.eastcoastskates.com/deathbox.htm

I enjoy the classic pig shape of the Iron Cross model. It rides smooth and carves great. The flat nose may be sketchy for some folks but if you use good tape, no worries of your front foot slipping...I just need harder wheels for more speed....

Charles County Maryland Skate Park
On 6/14/2002 lbk wrote in from (209.244.nnn.nnn)

It is cool that downhill luge skaters Bob Swartz and his son have been hard at work on the skatepark in Charles County, MD. It is not easy trying to get a park built and funded by the taxpayers. It is equally as hard to remain focused and involved on the project. Years can pass by as the daunting process of getting any public project completed takes many steps to complete. Bob you have inspired us in Arlington, VA with our park.

CC Maryland Park
On 6/14/2002 Bob Swartz wrote in from (68.50.nnn.nnn)

Hate to break it to you but the park will not be free and open 24 hrs. This was a tough discussion and any other way we would have lost the park.
The charge will be the absolute minimum (a few bucks)and benifits Maryland skaters and even BMX'ers. The reason for this is that the state and county are investing about $300,000. to the first phase of this park and want it to stay first class and nice and possibly fund some improvements such as bleachers, lights, sound system and maybe a few regular contests and maybe even an expansion. The fee will pay for the attendant with a little bank for making it better. This is not for profit. Originally we wanted a 20,000 sq ft park, but had to scale back when we found out what a quality skate park and surface cost($25 sq ft for skate surface construction cost ). A smaller quality park is far better than a big piece of SH..
Helemts and pads will be required and not wrist guards. We are trying to get the pads and helmets funded so that they will be free. There will be sessions for bike on weekdays to start and several special skate geezer nights. The interconnected bowl section should be one of the fastest skates you have experienced with unlimited lines to attack with just about any board style.
I know you will like it..

Charles County Maryland Park

Great News!!!!!!!! This has been in the works for 2 years but the contract for our new 12,500 sq ft concrete has been awarded to the master of concrete park surfaces "Wally Holiday".
His parks are well known for supreme transitions and fast skating. The park will be gated to protect the investment and will have a good mix of street and pool/bowl/vert skating areas. Ground breaking is July 1st next to the White Plains Golf Course in White Plains/Waldorf.Cross fingers for an early fall grand opening.

Any old Pro's wanna be part of grand opening???
