TimeShip Racing presents a weekend of outlaw Pro Banked Slalom racing in Albuquerque. Points from this event will be awarded (though last place) towards the "All Around Skater" event for this years Sandia All Around Challenge in September (See details at bottom). We will race at the Bear, the Worlds Largest Banked Slalom course on Saturday morning at 10:00am, practice from 8:30am or the day before if you arrive early. Last year we finished in about 3 hrs. After the race we'll head to ditch play in the afternoon with shuttle support and guides. At 6:00pm we'll hold a Skatepark Slalom Race at the Los Altos Skatepark across from the hotels where most skaters will stay. This event is for entrants only and is co-sponsored by Deathbox, it should be alot of fun. The Skatepark race will not be counted as part of the Banked Slalom event points, and entry fee will be waived. Prizes through 3rd place.
On Sunday we'll head to a different ditch and set up another banked slalom course, longer than the Bear, but not nearly as big. Location to be kept secret, there will be limited practice at this course, from 8:30am until 10:00am when racing will commence. After this race we'll calculate the standings and hold an awards ceremony at a nearby park. Prize money through 5th place, prizes through 10th, points through last. Afternoon ditch play with shuttles and guides until dark. Bring your quiver, you'll need it!
Registration: First, sign up here so we know how many to expect. You will need to register with TimeShip when you arrive in ABQ, entry fees are due at this time, Cash is king. We'll have someone at Los Altos Skatepark with a clipboard, maps and info until 9:00pm on Friday night, and there will be race day registration from 8:30 am to 9:30 am Saturday prior to the Bear Race. Maps to the next days location will be given out at this time. Entry fee covers both ditch races and the Park Slalom Race. Donations to fuel the Shuttles will be accepted.
Format: We'll take the best time of three runs from both courses and combine them, the lowest total time wins. We will have backup ditches and courses pre-marked in the event of a "Shutdown". Helmets will be required for all racers, pads are advised.
To Qualify: Drop in from the Start line at the Bear. Sounds simple right? Remember that entering doesn't make you a Pro. Accepting prize money does.
For photos and videos of the Bear, maps and more visit K-Lees site at http://mywebpages.comcast.net/moebius/ These hotels are reasonably priced, and right next to eachother. They are also near food and a five minute walk to the Los Altos Skatepark.

"ALL AROUND SKATER" will be awarded at the "Sandia All Around Challenge" Sept. 20th and 21st 2003. This years event will include the Sandia Downhill, a Giant Slalom, points brought from the Banked Slalom placings, and elective events for points: High Jump, 360's and Longest Grind Points will all be available, so if you can't make it to the Banked Slalom event, you can still do well in Sept. by practicing your 360's or grinds all Summer! Prize money will only be awarded for the "All Around Skater" category, specialists can stay home. TimeShip Racing expects to see an even bigger turnout of All School riders and racers, representing all disciplines. |

Results of the Sandia Pro Banked Slalom 2003
We raced the worlds largest banked slalom course at the Bear on Saturday morning, and we raced the Harper ditch course on Sunday morning. The APD co-operated nicely by leaving us alone. Over the entire event, we saw one unrelated cruising police car and one ambulance which we called.
The fastest time from each of the two race courses was combined to determine the following:
1st Dave Hackett.......38.053 $400 BLR 2nd Robert Palmer......38.132 $300 Redneck 3rd Steve Olson........38.348 $200 BLR 4th Will Brunson.......39.119 $100 TimeShip Racing 5th Ryan Armendariz....39.410 $100 TimeShip Racing 6th Eric Groff.........39.616 SSS 7th Dave Rogers........40.084 Rogers Bros. 8th Dave Ruel..........40.309 Death Box 9th Brad Bowman........40.490 Death Box 10th Jeff Budro........40.545 Sector Nine 11th Cody Bokatzian....40.585 Redneck 12th John Rogers.......40.823 Rogers Bros. 13th CW Dunn...........41.117 TimeShip Racing 14th George McClellan..41.173 15th Casey Duncan......41.541 TimeShip Racing 16th Joe Lehm..........41.545 TimeShip Racing 17th K-Lee Tajeda......41.549 Bozi 18th Mike Lowrie.......41.719 TimeShip Racing 19th Mike May..........42.462 20th Charlie Pacheco...47.285 Alva 21st John Muhlberger......DNF Radster

A Skate Park Slalom Race was held at Los Altos Park and was lots of fun for all. This race was a demonstration event, and did not count towards the final results. 1st WillBrunson TimeShip Racing 2nd Jeff Budro Sector Nine 3rd Ryan Armendariz TimeShip Racing
Don O' Shei will hopefully post the rest, the stat sheet went with him.
TimeShip is awarding points towards the "All Around Skater" event in Sept. based on placings from this event, 20 points for first place through 1 point for last.
Dave Hackett is leading after one event, with Giant Slalom, Downhill,Grinds,360's and High Jump to go. There is plenty of time to practice up on your weakest event! Which Dave will it be this year? Bryant, Rogers, Ruel or Hackett?
Worst Crash: Steve Michael crashed on his second practice run at the Bear, hitting head first into the bank smashing his helmet, multiple skull fractures, severe concussion, medical evacuation via ambulance.
Best Quote: Brad Bowman on Sunday after his last shuttled run at Indian School "I can't even lift my legs to get into the van". He then rode 3 mile ditch an hour later.
Best Run: The Crazed Dog that ran full speed under the bridge while we awaited our turns at Harper ditch. He caught 2 feet of air on his way out! We laughed so hard we cried. What was he running from?
Endless Energy: Dave Ruel, he rode and ripped it ALL.
Most Intelligent Team: Rogers Bros. for donning their full face helmets on Sunday morning to compensate for their impaired motor skills. (and to hide their bloodshot eyes!)
We all want to send a BIG thank you to Don, Jen and FCR for providing and running the timing system that made this event possible. TimeShip Racing also wants to thank all of our hard working volunteers that kicked butt all weekend: Tammy, Ramos, JC, Nyah, K-Lee, Mark, and George.
Thanks everyone for coming out to help us represent a good time!!
