*** IMPORTANT MESSAGE ***

Hello Racers!

The South Hadley Skateboard 'n Hotdog Races and BBQ are POSTPONED DUE TO WEATHER and re-scheduled for Sunday, July 11th.

The weather for Saturday 7/10/2010 shows up to an 80% chance of rain in the afternoon, and Sunday looks much better with only a 30% chance of isolated t-storms in the afternoon. See you all Sunday morning.

Registration is from 10AM - 10:30AM, racer's meeting at 10:45, GS practice at 11AM. This is an "outlaw" race so there is a bust factor (3 out of 10) - for that reason, you must contact us for more info and directions to the event venue. Disciplines will be High Speed Giant Slalom, Banked Slalom, and a Kid's Slalom race.

All races will be single-lane, electronically timed, with each racer getting two runs per discipline. Our timing system was designed and programmed by a Doctor and a NASA Space Shuttle Astronaut...really! It records times down to thousandths of a second. The GS course is 750 feet long and Banked Slalom about 600 feet long. The GS course will have about 30 cones, and the Banked Slalom will start with plywood banks/ramps with cones on them and then pass under a "low bridge" into a slalom course with a small jump ramp in the middle. The Kid's Slalom race course will be set lower down the hill. The GS and Kid's Slalom will be push starts, and the Banked Slalom will use a small wooden start ramp. The race road has very good pavement - about a 7 out of 10 - and is located in a residential neighborhood. It starts fairly flat and straight, follows a gentle right curve down a short but fairly steep section, then ends in a gradually flattening straightaway. It is very lightly traveled. Top speeds in the GS are expected to be about 30mph, and about 20mph for the Banked Slalom. There is a flat runout - no foot braking required but can be used if riders are comfortable doing so. A "B-class" push-start (GS ONLY) will be available for those who find the full-length hill too daunting. Banked Slalom and GS Classes will have trophies for the top three places in each class, and there will be trophies or prizes for the top three places in the Kid's Slalom. All racers will be required to sign a release form, and those under 18 must also have a parent or guardian sign.
