Yeah - but maybe make it the default for the people who are struggling to even use the forum? I didn't have to set it on the ISSA forum.[/quote:2xqk7j9n]Good idea.
I go to the Contests special link on the front page and see the list of contests, but if the contest is over, the "signup online" link is gone (rightfully so) and there is nothing to click...I'm guessing you are getting to it another way? Or maybe it works differently in Canada? [/quote:2xqk7j9n]Seems to work better in Canada... If the "special link" you're talking about is the same that is at the top of every page, then I do the same thing you do and get a "Go" button in front of every contest listed (over or not) which takes me me to the contest page with description, roster, and results (when available). Basically, it's identical to what it was before...

No probs here at all.It's no different than thousands of other forums on the net...don't hate her cuz sheez different. Only changes I'd like to see are:- the first post at the top and the later posts below it - like the ISSA forum- the ability to still click on a contest link AFTER it has been run (to see the rider list).- make a direct link to the slalom forums, like the "contests" and "cyber slalom" links. -RF

I agree Cat, I find this format really hard to use. I would like to see it go back to the old format.I rarely check the website anymore, too complicated and can't see everyone's current thoughts.

I'm guessing that a mono topic forum is like the old NCDSA? I rarely went to the old site because it was so out of date with its format. I prefer this new format. NCDSA is finally up to speed with most every other online forum. As an unknown new person to the forum, I never wanted to post at the old forum because I felt like I was interrupting some big important famous skaters' conversations.

I have activated the polling feature in Ncdsa's new forum software and will be using it in this topic to garner opinions about Ncdsa's new look and functionality and how they might be improved. Please take a moment to consider and respond to the polls that will follow.
It really is nice to have the forums updated to current standards. No more anonymous posts. Or at least it will cut down on them.Well done AdamBob F[/quote:3hbvstvf]No more anonymous posts, or any posts for that matter. Sad what NCDSA has become, I used to visit 4 or 5 times a day.

I'm getting the impression that the old format was maybe more LURK friendly. This one seems to promote actual exchanges. (a good thing).

I DO miss the old format, but this one takes about 5 minutes to figure out if you open your eyes and really look at what's available on the opening screen. SAD. Can't even find people to bomb or carve with in SANTA CRUZ, CA! Weak . . .

After watching here for a few weeks (and being from, ya know, the 'backwoods' of Vermont), I cannot believe how many CALIFORNIANS that Sk8 are appearantly computer illitterate, obstinate, and dazed by the advances of 21st century typing. Oy, it hurts the head to think so many of you who share the vibe of Skating are somehow unable to get a grip on a new-ish web page. C'mon, dudes, figure it out, and chat a little about The Stoke! Keep in mind this, too; The WEB is the great equalizer in both the concepts of Distance, and in terms of creating a 'body of knowledge' ("Library" if you will) that's accessible to all age groups. If you don't contribute, YOUR take on the scene WILL get taken over by ESPN or worse, FOX Sports. I know my lifetime has been well spent on a skateboard, even if I've never (successfully) slid a stair railing (well, got it on a snowboard, but that's like, cheating). How many 'Groms'' have ever gone past 25 mph, let alone 60 mph? Or surfed underground 30' pipes in Zona? Don't let those moments go by unnoticed HERE!!! I'll be watching, 'cause I know, the Last Thing the old regulars of NCDSA want to see is that a washed-up snowboarder from VT is putting his ideas on what soulskating truly is . {as if I really know}
thx Adam, i figured u already thought about it...wow, didn't know u ride a motobike...thinking about getting one...[/quote:aqp7yxov]Yup, I ride a Triumph Tiger though not nearly as often as I should. BARF classifieds are a good place to find a first bike, and BARF is a great place to get MC advice of all kinds.
is it possible to display the thread title of the last post under 'board index' ?ie...http://www.bayarearidersforum.com/forums/[/quote:1oye7dbp]BARF.. that's a good site; I'm a longtime member, in fact. It's also a vBulletin site, not phpBB. Nonetheless, there was a way to do what you're requesting in phpBB v3 but it made the page look more cluttered so I opted against it, albeit without a great deal of thought (it was one of dozens of config options considered en masse). I'll revisit the option when our programmer gets a break in his college work. Thanks for the suggestion!
How do I turn off the "Notify me when a reply is posted"when I post.I don't want to uncheck the thing everytime..... [/quote:bn24c9ez]After logging in, go to User Control Panel > Board Preferences > Edit posting defaults and un-check 'Notify me upon replies by default'. This will change your default response for all topics you post to. You can selectively turn this off, as you noted, by un-checking the 'Notify me when a reply is posted' box that appears beneath each 'Message body' box when you're composing a post. Finally, you can unsubscribe from individual topics by clicking the 'Unsubscribe topic' link that appears just above the first post in all topics you are subscribing to.
