Slalom St. Louis 2007 27 Registered Contestants. Event Date and Time: Saturday, May 26, 2007  11:00 Event Duration: Two days Location: Tower Grove Park, St. Louis, MO Entry: Open Helmets: Recommended Classes: Friday: Outlaw jam session (no timer) Saturday: Single-lane loose hybrid Sunday: 100-cone dual Organizer: STL Daggers Map: Click here for online map Entry Fee: $20.00 Contest Info: THE COURSES: As in previous years, they're gonna be "slalom," with courses varying from 40 to 100 cones. Push start only. FRIDAY, MAY 25, we plan an afternoon/evening outlaw session at "Spot 2," a slightly steeper hill near the east end of the park. Single lane, no timer, just for fun. Show up around 5:00 and we'll ride until we get tired or (hopefully not) kicked out. SATURDAY, MAY 26, we plan a single-lane jam at "Spot 1," the same hill as previous years. Course will be a hybrid, with spacing anywhere from 6 feet to 20 feet, emphasizing speed and fun--makeable for newbies, challenging for experts to go fast on. Take as many runs as you want; fastest time wins. Show up around 10:00 a.m., and we'll start actual racing around 11:00 or so. We'll race for as long as people want to ride, after which... BBQ!!! Free food, free soda, bring your own "other beverage of choice." We have reserved the Turkish Pavilion at the top of the course all day Saturday. Chill out, relax and enjoy some food and drink until closing time (around 10:00 p.m.) SUNDAY, MAY 27, we plan a dual-lane 100-cone race at "Spot 3," a hill at the northeast end of the park (with public restrooms at the top--hooray!). Cones will be set straight (no offsets) but will follow the natural curves of the road, which bends right, then left, then back right again. Cone spacing will vary from about 6 feet at the start to about 7 feet at the end. You WILL wiggle!!! For this race, we'll need to start earlier to make sure people who need to leave on Sunday will be able to catch their planes. Show up around 9:00 a.m., and we'll start racing at 10:00 a.m. RACE LOCATION: Tower Grove Park in south St. Louis. See map link above and photo below for directions and locations. SURFACE: EXCELLENT asphalt, good runout at the bottom--little or no footbraking required. The streets are very slightly crowned and not particularly steep, but you won't be hurtin' for speed.
