This information will be updated from time to time so be sure to check it on occasion. we have decided to change venues. We now have a much better hill at Canal and 16th street. This location is just south of the main downtown area. There is plenty of parking at the race site.We will arranged rides for anyone who needs one.email me @ cfavero@leye.com.There is public transpo, but we have the ability to do this,so why not?
16th (uphill shot)
The actual area we are racing in is the historic"Maxwell Street Market".This area has been featured in many films, most famously,The Blues Brothers. The infamous slogan of this flea market is "Cheat you Fair". The official event is Saturday, July 23rd, with a rain date of July 24th. The hill is like Washington St. in Athens, GA (maybe a little steeper, but approximately the same length) it is a staight run with runout and the asphalt is butter.
16th (downhill shot)
The schedule for the day should go something like this: 9:30AM to around 11.30AM tight slalom jam format. Noon to 1:00PM lunch which we will provide. We will use the finishes from the tight jam to bracket the hybrid after lunch and expect to be done around 4:00PM. This race is designed to be amateur only so we will bracket everyone. If there are 36 racers 1 seed will face 36 seed and so on. Should any pros come, they will run in a separate class. The comp on the AM side stays pure. This race is in the center of the country, so we hope most of the AMs can make it as there will be a plane ticket, entry fee and room for the worlds on the line here most likely. Around 4:30 pm we will head over to burhnam(31st)skatepark.this is a fun for everyone park, including slalom boards.we will host a bbq and experession session till 7:30 pm.all registerd contestants will vote for their favorite skaters.
