Contest Info: Final of several races in the Cascade Slalom series.

This is a good smooth hill for a 40 to 50-cone Hybrid slalom course. The City of Ridgefield has agreed to close the road for us free of charge, so this is NOT an outlaw event.

The organizers are the Grass Roots Slalom folks in Porland Oregon and Seattle Washington.

We run a "ladder bracket" system where all of the racers go on to the final head-to-head runs. No one is eliminated.

All racers (PRO, AM, Men, Women, Children) race in one large category.

Our sponsors for the series is Daddies Board Shop and Roe Racing.

After the race, we will be holding a banquet or a picinc to hand out the prizes for the season and to crown the 2004 Cascade Slalom Association champion.

- Hope to see you there.

Course was flat on top with about 5.5' cones, then goes downhill in an "S" curve of cones at 6 to 7', then gets steeper with offsets and 9' or so cones, then a final flush of cones at the end.

66 cones in all.

Best time: Paul Howard 27.6879

Paul biffed both qual runs (DQ) and had to start the ladder bracket on the bottom rung.

The final runs were hurried as we could see the rain approaching. Dan Loveland and Gareth took their final run to determine 1st and 2nd place, but they were both sliding after 2 turns so they stopped. A tie-breaker (fastest time of the day) put Dan in 1st place.

We had a huge raffle of prizes from our generous sponsors:
1 ROE Deck
1 Insect Deck
2 Pauliwog Decks
1 Gift certificate to "Tiger Lilly" Tatoos
3 Curve Skateboard shirts
4 Skate Forever shirts
7 "706" shirts
3 "706" hats
3 "Cal Skate" shirts
and lots of stickers, patches, CD's and a playstation game.
