Location: Jackson, Mississippi
Entry: Open

Organizer: Mississippi Chapter Of Grass Roots Slalom

Entry Fee: $25.00
Contest Info: This race is that it will be held at night, under the lights. We have great new sponsors and our base of local hotdogs is growing. We are very excited to have Red Bull energy drink and Fondren Renaissance Foundation (www.fondren.org) on board with this event.
The race will be held in a section of Metro Jackson called The Fondren District by locals. The Fondren District is one of Jackson's earliest cultural centers. Fondren has found a new pride in its heritage and considers itself a historic neighborhood. There is renewed respect for old buildings, sites and artifacts. Fondren has worked with us to provide a nice venue for our Grass Roots Slalom race. The venue is lined with coffee shops, restaurants, retail stores and even a skate shop. It really is a great spot for the slalom skater to race and have a huge time.

The street closes at 5:30pm, Practice starts (officially)at 7:00pm, Qualifying at 8:00pm

$500 guaranteed purse paying out to the top three finishers

Post race awards gathering on the Roof Top of “The Corner” building on the race course. Catering provided by Rooster’s Deli

This is also the day that Jackson hosts the national level Tour Le Fleur Cycling race. Get in town early and check out some great criterium racing on the streets of Fondren two blocks from the slalom venue.

If your flying in the airport will be JAN (Jackson International)

Lodging can be obtained from Cabot Lodge Millsaps. This hotel is within half a mile of the race course. Find them at: http://www.cabotlodgemillsaps.com/

Come on out and enjoy some fine southern hospitality brought to you by Red Bull Energy Drink and the Mississippi Chapter of Grass Roots Slalom!

I must inform everyone that the surface on Fondren Hill is less than perfect, bring your 80a Avalons, your Flashbacks and your nerve. Don't get me wrong the surface is totally racable and everyone races on the same hill. If you only race on perfect surfaces this may not be your race. I guarantee this hill will make for some very exciting races and the crowds will be big and add to the excitement of this event.

Go to www.lunaslalomjam.com or www.byrddogskates.com for more info. This page will be updated soon with more pictures and information.

Let’s have some fun!

Latest Lodging and Racing info:

Red Bull and MS GRS has secured the racers a $64.00 + Tax rate for Saturday night at the Cabot. This rate will also apply to those racers who are coming into town for the Friday night Road Kill Racing "85 Jam". The rate is the same on Friday but the racer is responsible for payment for the Friday night stay. Please make sure to tell them that you are with the Luna Slalom Jam in Fondren.

Please share these rooms as much as possible. I do have a budget and want it to cover as many rooms as possible. Any questions please contact Ricky Byrd, MS GRS, at byrddog@jam.rr.com

Road Kill Racing will be hosting a jam format race on famed Road Kill Hill at 5:00pm on Friday, April 16th. We will run till it's to dark then gather at a local pub to talk slalom and eat. This race will be striped down, no ramps, long push, single lane, best time wins, street racing. Prizes for the top three fastest times. Come in town early and join us. Tell the Cabot that you are with the LSJ and receive a special room rate. Again, any questions please contact Ricky Byrd, MS GRS, at byrddog@jam.rr.com
