Jared, I almost missed your post... Anyhow, this is where you're likely to find info on sanctioned races, but local ones, maybe not?

Atom pinner
On 4/3/2016 PSR wrote in from United States  (65.96.nnn.nnn)

Abdus, that's a good value, as completes go. It's 'cheap' points are in the bearings, and the trucks are not of great quality. I'd think that you'll eventually want to upgrade both the trucks (Ronin,or Bear by example) and the bearings (Oust or Pleasure Tool, by example). However, it comes down to how hard you'll be riding it. If you're just starting out, it'll be mostly good-to-go. The one thing you might 'fix' right away may be the bushings, depending on your weight, and how fast (or turny) you want to ride. Truck bushings are not expensive, and do great things for the board's feel and steering (go softer if you want more turn, stiffer if you want to go faster), so look over Khiro, ABEC 11, Blood Orange, or Venom for an upgrade.
The basic deck, btw, is fine, and while I might swap out the wheels, go use them up first.

Kidder's!!
On 7/12/2015 PSR wrote in from United States  (65.96.nnn.nnn)

Wow, middle of summer, and No Traffic! Sad, but expected...
Anyhow, I got my 8 yr. old twins to start cruisin' on some Longboards (they OWN my Hobies of the 70's, a Turner, a Fibreflex, a Caster, and a Tracker KT). What I did was to put in softer bushings in the 85A-74A range, adding turnier trucks, and soft, fat wheels on my 38" + decks. The results were amazing!! The kids can now cut-back turns at low body angles (ala Jay Adams) on either turn, push carves hard enuff to 'rail' the board, and go from standing, to 'Dogtown' Low Style, to kneeling where they can footbrake or push, or back Up to full standing position. This gives them the control they need to cruise moderate hills (and, later, to get the 'wave' while surfing. I'm NOT near good beaches in N. New England). My boy loves Kickturning everywhere, but longboards are a challenge, yet, at 57 Lbs., and 4'-4", he can manual a Comet 44" DH KT about, and accellerate it! My daugther likes to cruise, flowingly, pushing fast, then working a long carve. She 'dance' a cross-step to the nose or tail, and even 180's the pirrohettes at times in the middle!! I don't know where they're headed, riding-style wise, yet. I keep the options as OPEN as I can, but they're being in Alabama while I'm in W. Cen. N.H., it makes it tough to gauge their intrests, and terrain. Anyhow, the main point here is this; Set-up of any board for lighter riders is all about the truck set-up, and then board weight/shape. In bushings, use a soft set-up, knowing that a wrench can fix/tune things easily. With board shape/size/weight, go narrower, shorter [usually], and lighter, and with concave that fits smaller feet.Angled wedge risers can greatly affect steering, so get that front to TURN, keep the rear at a more stable poise in set-up (stiffer bushings at the rear IF you've got a hardcore Kick-turner!). Lastly, add slower (YUP, SLOWER!) but still smooth, bearings to their boards. This makes hills far less scary. Turning, sliding, and footbraking are still the 'speed-control' basics, but slower bearings/wheels can add safety and confidence on a given pitch of hill.
Mix it up, be sure that ll the skills are taught, even if only once-or-twice. A child needs to understand what they own that Controls a skateboard/longboard, and they need a safer place to explore. Cemetaries, parking garages, and smaller, rural skateparks can help out greatly in keeping CARS at bay, and the Learning at a high level. Be sure to ride many board types early on; the favorites will emerge as the skills increase!!

for downhill ride your trucks as loose as you can so that you learn how the truck turns you will be surprised to see how each truck is different and how loose trucks really does save lives.

ICARO 4fight! Wooooh!

I've seen a helmet that looks very similar to the 4fight but the tail is a bit more of a cubed? looking thing, it still comes to a point of course! but I just thought it was funny how much of the 4fight there was in the helmet.

Bushings
On 7/6/2007 Christian wrote in from United States  (69.235.nnn.nnn)

The Doh-Doh's i cracked was a yellow one. I use the yellow one as a bottom bushing and bones as a top bushing. And it wasnt to tight because i was able to do a U-turn on my street standing up.

JimZ bushings seem like good bushing to me.. Im looking into buying them. they are a little on the expensive side but i want to nowif they are worth buying.
