Thanks to Steve Pearl for a fun day with the tv crew from Bay Area Backroads. Cool meeting all you lugers, JohnO, Shark, Kevin, Andy, Hugh, David, and others (spacing on names, sorry). Still jittery from the overdose of Red Bull. ;-)
See you guys at the Big Air. hc in SJ www.geocities.com/sk8sanjose

yeah howzit going street luge rocks just built myself an aluminium luge.the thing is im using the normal el cheapo "old school" sk8board trucks so other than tightening them super tight what else can i do to modify thier performance ......... oh what the hell is the difference between all the ABEC bearing ratings, i think its the lube that comes with it.

Brakes are not a bad idea...they have their purpose. Just because I can stop my luge from 60mph in 40ft with my feet, doesnt make little Johnny's mom any happier about him or even her trying luge without brakes. You know the look..... the big eyes when you answer the question "How do you stop that thing"... that right there stops most people from even trying luge even on little hills. If we want the sport to grow we need recreational riders, if we want new recreational riders we need to solve what scares them. Brake are just one of them. Tim Cayer at the Lugestore and GSI knows this well and makes an adjustable luge with front band brakes. It was advertised in Wired Mag. http://www.americanlandluge.com/ Once they ride the thing a few times and get over the initial fear they will figure out shoesmoke is the better way to go..

wow! cant say a whole lot about the scheleton , not the best idea (head first) i think we all know that . butt board looks fun , but i dissagree with the concept of the brake , especcially on luge or buttboard (good idea on scheleton) , 1/2 the fun is using your feet , and it adds controll and speed with the understanding of the hill. plus the price OUch!! any of us could easily apply the brake to personal boardsfor a 1/4of what they are charging

No riding @ Dinosaur Point on Saturday, June 29th. Our family had made a personal commitment for 6/29/02 that I did not take into account when the schedules were released. Sorry about that.
There will be riding on Sunday 6/30/02.

If you go to www.longskate,and peruse their Video selection, you'll find a flick called "downhill motion". The La Costa and Signal Hill segments are very entertaining! John was there,as were a few others that frequent this site.

Sorry I should have told you Sam set the record that year at 54 mph and tommy Ryan and I tied for 2nd, during the tie break, I beat Sams speed but it didn't matter because it was a tie break for 2nd place, and my push man was no-other than Sam himself, See ya at La Costa. J.H.

Just thought I'd pass this along. The Travel Channel is doing a countdown show as I write. It's the "World's Ten Fastest Places." Included in the countdown is a five minute feature on St. George, Utah. (It was number five on the List.) Anyway, there's a good little interview with George Orton. The show will be rerun at 11:00PM EST.
