Unfortunately, it's in rough shape. The Monks haven't had the top resturant open for 6 years now, and therfore no money for the road. IF you hit it, I recommend the stretch from the Farmhouse (just below the tight 'ESS's) down to the Chimney pulloff or so. Again, bring hardy shoes, it's a 'footdragger'. However, if you near Manchester, head out to Sandgate, and check out the 'Notch' (it's the Left just before the Town Hall). Nelson and I used to bomb this when I lived in Arlington. Not much of a braking zone at the bottom, but a sweet 7/8th mile nonetheless. North of Moneyche$ter, there's a road from Dorset to East Dorset. The East side, towards Rt. 7A has a great pitch, good switchbacks, and just enuff room to stop. The Dorset side is mellower, but with more traffic, and less of a stop-zone before you get to Rt. 30. Also note Rt. 315 towards N.Y., which is Scary-Fast. Out past Stratton, go on about a mile beyond the Sunbowl Lot. That's my fave 'quick-shot' hill, and since it a gully, no braking is needed. That's where I often go to test how good a new set-up is, as you can get 45 out either side easily. CMC has even tucked it on his Turner slalom board, didn't even tighten the truck, just bombed! Just watch out for the contracters and sightseers. ;-)

I'm currently running the standard R-2B trucks on my Darren Lott classic luge. 50 degree baseplates. Been thinking about running my Crails on the buttboard, as they are a a little over a 1/4" lower than the R2'B trucks. Anyone tried this yet? they havbe 45 degree baseplates.....

Tim, there's two good spots, one that's 'expert only', and one that's a bit easier. Oh, and one 'secret' spot, which I'd show you, but ONLY if you don't spread the word. The 'Mountain Road' runs from the baselodge to the backside of Rum Run trail. The only really good run that is doable on one pair of shoes [requires heavy braking otherwise] is from just above Easy Rider down to where Arrow first gets crossed by the Road. The Lower Arrow-to-Base looks tempting, but beware of rough tar And maintenence vehichle traffic. This can tear your shoes BEFORE you reach the Base, so, like, I warned you here 1st!
Now, the Gnarly Stuff is the condo road to Sachem Village. That road is smooth, BUT, it's got 16 turns in 700 Vertical Ft, and comes out at a tricky intersection. Don't park anywhere in front of a driveway, you'll get towed. Don't run this one Alone. Do consider a 'chase car' with a driver that's comfortable being an obstructionist. Bring thick, tough shoes, consider slower bearings, and goggles (brake/shoe dust;Gag,cough).
While in Ludlow, go up South Hill, take a Left, go on a ways. Look for the old yellow farmhouse, hice hill back there...

RJ, you don't, at least when riding...
Otherwise, to do stuff like change wheels, use two wrenches to unscrew an axle nut. Once one wheel is off, then use Visegrips, BUT, add a thin (like a handkercheif) cloth between the pliers and axle, then clamp. That should keep the axle from marring, and let you swap out wheels without pulling the whole axle out of the hanger.

that's right, you said so Tyler. I'm surprised 10 degrees makes all that difference, but I'm sur eyou're right. with 50 degree baseplates you need to carve so uch out of your board at the front it's not possible.
Also, you have to want to use 60 degree baseplates.. stability. Though I suspect that the lowering due to the dropthroughs means that you have more stability already.
Oh, and of course if your board breaks, you have NO clearance ! ;-)

with dropthroughs especially you'll have to beware of wheel rub on turning, so you may have to sand wheelwells, assuming there is room enough without going through the board.
regrding height, Standard Randal trucks should give you enough clearance, but you may have to forgo handrails...

Would randall 180's with the hanger flipped, and 70's flashbacks be a good buttboard setup? I am going to make my own buttboard. PLEASE give me some tips or designs to help me out!
