My Kid's Godfather spotted me an Online Order (I don't put my credit card 'out there'!) from Strangehouse (in central Virginia, so 13.5 hrs. drive from me). Sadly, Frank popped the wheels into a "3-Day" USPS envelope, just as T-rump decided to disembowel the Post Office using his Crony Mr. DeJoy's Ploy of Removing the Sorting Machines. They took Weeks to get here... [Damned Cheating GOP Fools!!] . Anyhow, the Tarantulas were worth waiting for!! Almost as fast, and as sticky, as my 80A Nersh Tophats, even with being quite a bit smaller around, and a lot narrower. There as nimble as an Avalon, but smoother than even Black-Ops versions. My Estlund S-camber never felt this easy to turn AND Stable, and Fast, all at once! It makes me think the Krakatoa might have some merit (and as a Luge wheel, as well), but, I can't find those anymore, either.. I told Frank to use UPS or Fed-Ex until, at least February, as the USPS is kinda like that Costner movie, only, missing a few ponies.

The 1st big hill I bombed turned out to be the fastest hill I would train on; yes train. Today its called freeriding and thats cool but if you want to win a race run every hill wide open. You race like you train !!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Seeing how it is just me again; I SHALL SHARE !!!!!!!!!!1 Thinking alot about racen my skateboard and all the different hills I have raced on; up till the last 5 years of my racen life always raced pretty much the same guys !Even when new guys came in I still had the same frame of mind. Trained like I raced; as soon as that skateboard pointed downhill my focus was there 100% !!!!1 No mater what hill or race it was it was not a mater of what I wanted like to win that heat or that event. IT WAS A MATER OF FACT TO CHASE THAT GUY; CATCH THAT GUY; PASS THAT GUY TILL THERE WAS NO MORE HILL OR I CRASHED !!!!!!!!!!1 MAN I MISSED DOING THIS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Fuk, Yay, I'm still alive!! Are You? I may 'lay down on the job to Luge It Faster', But, I Stand at the End of the Run. My inverse, "S-camber" deck is (now that I've owned both) a better stick (thanks, Eric Estlund!) than a new-edition LY EVO, because of the REAR FOOT against Camber placement. I need to go to Bru in moneychester Vt to make the concave correct, tubbed like we wish it could be... We'll be back; PSR has NO MONEY, NEVER DID. I work for IDEAS that Go Faster, always have. Eric, the "PSR" in 'no skool' wheels [Right, Chris, or did ya forget in that wine bottle?]

I first posted here as a 14 year old in 2001 who wanted to learn how to race skateboards.
It dominated my teen years and I made some real friends from this page. Just wanted to pop past and spread some love. Kind of made me teary visiting here again to be honest.

1st heat was a lot of fun , little daft, pass; got passed ! Finials was different. Never had a transponder on me before and it was to tell who made it down the hill the first. Guess they did not take into account the start line who took off 1st off the line. I had a game plan to wait for Tab to pass because he was the heaviest rider and been down this hill 100 times. Had no issues with the others! We go thru the top section and Tad made his move pass me. What I did not know is that a luge rider was filming behind Tad. In the last 19 years of racing the only riders on the race course was only the riders in that heat. When Tad pass me I could here something on my hip so I swerved hard to the other side of the road.Killed my draft or a chance to win; right then I realized my trucks was crazy loose. Never touched my board after Zac handed it to me. At that point I ROAD THAT BOARD LIKE I STOLE IT ! Catching up to Mike who said he got 3rd because the transponder said he got down the hill faster than me I decided not to pass him in a turn and waited till we hit a straight away and made my move. The whole time about to come off my board. After the pass a hit a patch in the turn and another coming out of the turn; went wide. He came inside and I cut him off just at the straight before the last hard left. He was trying to grab me and I was swinging back; our boards hit and he backed off. Going into the last hard left I brushed the hey; he got inside me, I went back into my tuck and won by 1/2 a board . When the start lines man said go Mike went like a bat out of hell and I just stayed ! He took off and I did not so the transponder said he won. All day he tried to talk me into that he got 3rd. At the end I told him if he wanted it that bad go head a take the podium; he did and still has my trophy ! Had a blast and no worries with the outcome; some times s#@! happens. STOKED TO BE BACK HERE BECAUSE IT JUST SPEEDBOARDING TALK !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 ONLY SPEEDBOARDERs READ THIS STUFF; Ha !

So the morning of the race Tab comes over and said I should put the new wheels on that Zac gave me, was the Devils Peak wheels he made for that race. Then I looked around for my board and forgot what I did with it; Zak had it, Ha !!!1 Walked to the street looking for it and I see Zak with a big smile on his face. Got my board and put the new wheels on at Tabs camp. Ready to go :) Had one practice run before the Grand Masters started the show. All the pros was watching on the Big Screen. In the practice run I some how found myself in a pack of riders going for it. One rider came out of no where and almost took out 3 riders in front of me coming into a turn. THAT WAS EXCITING !!!!!!!!!!!!1 Forgot about my board Zak just handed me but it was loose. That old saying RIDE IT LIKE YOU STOLE IT came into play when we raced . Will finish tomorrow; Ha !

Decided this site is more for me so. I raced again last month. It was the 1st race for Windwalk down Maryhill. A man contacted me that he wanted to give back and wanted to pay my airfair to finish something I had started 15 years ago, got takin out my 1st heat. Windwalk covered my fee to race. For the 1st time I was racen guys my on age. Zac made sure I had good wheels ; Tad made sure I needed to go for it ! Had 3 days to get the hang on the hill again. Once I did; talked the race gods to let us; the old guys go in the morning because it was over 100 every day. Was walking by Zak in the morning before practice and he talked me into given him my board. One run and then we raced ! Will share more tomorrow. Knowing no one read this is awesome for me to just share StanD-uP SpeEdbOarding ; Ha !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 Thanks for hanging around NCDSA.

While I could only be a spectator, and then only for a very short time this year, I was thoroughly Stoked on this event! It's been 36 years (and a month or so) since I first ran this hill, from the Bear Mt. turnoff to the bottom on a plywood Luge. I first ran the hill, standing, BUT Cranking Turns, back in '78. However, the potential as a Racing Hill was obvious even then! Last year, the race had Luges going into the 70 mph realm, and the Stand-up Racers were right around the mile-a-minute mark at the bottom. This Year, Marc Dean moved the Start Further Up the mountain! Now, the Racers were coming into that left-handed Hairpin at 60+! I think the Sleds carried more speed out of the bottom, but that change elevated everyone's game! This might've been the last race here[?], as Marc is not running it next year, and the future is 'cloudy' for now. In any case, I'm happy that 'my' race hill (well, one of them!) that I ran on 3 decades ago got to see 3 years of great competition. The Racers that ran this beast did me proud! Hope it was worth the trip to the Green Mountains!
